Need to bring startups to boost green hydrogen: Pralhad Joshi
New and Renewable Energy Minister Pralhad Joshi on Wednesday stressed on the need to bring startups into the green hydrogen sector to bring new ideas and involve youth. Addressing a curtain raiser of the second International Conference on Green Hydrogen India 2024, Joshi said that there will be over 120 exhibitors in the event which is scheduled on September 11-13, 2024 in Delhi.

Govt mulls import duty hike on steel to counter Chinese ‘dumping’
New Delhi: The Steel Ministry has backed industry’s demand for an import duty hike on the metal offerings coming in, particularly from China and other South-East Asian nations. The pitch – to the PMO and Finance Ministry – would be to raise tariffs to 10-12 per cent, from the existing 7.5 per cent, Steel Minister HD Kumaraswamy said.

India’s primary steel manufacturers including Tata Steel, JSW, AM/NS and state-run SAIL may get a reprieve from the prospect of “unsustainable prices’ wiping off their margins, in the form of higher import tariffs on their key products like hot rolled coil (HRC).

Copper futures approaching a support
Copper futures on the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX) fell off the resistance at ₹820 last week. It dropped below the support at ₹800 and closed at ₹785.35 on Tuesday. While the inclination appears bearish, the copper futures (September) has a support at ₹774. The bears are likely to drag the price below this level to establish another downtrend. If the support at ₹774 is breached, the contract can decline to ₹740-750, a strong base. Subsequent support is at ₹720. But if there is a recovery from the current level, the copper futures will again face a barrier at ₹820. Only a breakout beyond this can turn the outlook positive.

Silver futures decline to ₹82,801 per kg after reduced bets
New Delhi: Silver prices on Wednesday plunged ₹451 to ₹82,801 per kilogram as participants reduced their bets. On the Multi Commodity Exchange, silver contracts for December delivery declined by ₹451 or 0.18 per cent to ₹82,801 per kg in a business turnover of 32,686 lots.
